Crème Fraîche Dip

Crème Fraiche Vegetable Dip

Are you looking for a healthier snack in between your meals? Try making this easy creme fraiche dip. It’s a simple dip to make that tastes delicious and is a lot healthier than snacking on crisps every day.

Just like most kids, I was never a big fan of eating vegetables. I was a nightmare to feed – I’d refuse to eat so many things… Even now, I’m quite a picky eater. But for some reason, I really liked making this dip. It was fun to make, and it actually got my 12 year old self to eat some vegetables. It’s not the healthiest snack you can make, but it’s definitely healthier than your typical crisps packets or chocolate chip cookies.

What is it this crème fraîche dip?

This crème fraîche dipping sauce is essentially made out of three ingredients: Crème fraîche, aromat (all purpose seasoning) and chives. It’s that simple! And you can change the ingredients to what you prefer. Personally, we like using a whole chives packet and cutting them into tiny pieces. Some people don’t even need any seasoning to go with it, but I like adding some Aromat – it adds some more flavour to the dip.

Alternative ingredients:

If you can’t find the plain crème fraîche you can try looking for the crème fraîche that is already mixed with some herbs. I personally like using Aromat to season almost all my food – it’s a very Swiss seasoning, but you can buy it in the UK. if you don’t want to use Aromat, you can also just use salt, garlic salt and/or all-purpose seasoning. You’re essentially just adding more flavour to the dip, but it’s up to you on how salty your want your dip to be.

Aromat is a Swiss-branded all purpose seasoning by Knorr. I use that in most of my recipes, but using any type of all purpose seasoning will work as an alternative.

Why I like this vegetable dip:

I think I learnt how to make this crème fraîche dip when I was around 11 or 12. They taught us how to make this at school and I’ve been making it ever since. I guess it brings back some fond memories of when my class used to make snacks and sell them to our younger peers. We had a ‘food stand’ for about 3 months. We were trying to raise enough money for an end of middle school trip!

What to serve with this créme fraîche dip:

You can dip whatever vegetables you prefer. Examples include carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers and celery. But it’s completely up to your preferences. I personally love eating the dip with carrots, but my family prefers it with cucumber and bell peppers.

This crème fraîche vegetable dip is a great snack and a healthier alternative to crisps. It’s definitely a party-favourite and can be a great side dish to a BBQ or even a simple salad or a chicken caesar wrap. To make your wrap less dry, you can even add this crème fraîche dip to the wrap!

Is this créme fraîche dip healthy?

You can choose which vegetables you want to serve with this delicious dip. Depending on how much all-purpose seasoning/salt you add to the dish, this créme fraîche dip is definitely a healthier snack option than other!
